This is a simple and easy way to bring our faith home and to create a space to pray together as a family. It doesn't require much, just a table or shelf and a few things that help your family to pray and remind you of your faith. Some examples could be a cross, a bible, candles, rosaries, prayer books, sacred art, images with bible verses, etc. It can be as simple as you want it to be. The Catholic Icing blog has many great ideas on how to set one up!
choosing family patron saints
The Saints are people who have lived the faith well, allowing God to turn ordinary moments into occasions for extraordinary grace. They teach, challenge and inspire us by their example, and they pray for us now in heaven. St. Therese of Lisieux said that she wanted to spend her time in heaven doing good on earth. That's the mission of all the saints! They are our spiritual companions while we seek the goal that they have already reached. Patron saints are those we ask to pray for us in a special way or those whose lives and virtues we hope to imitate. Here's a great guide for choosing family patron saints. Consider adding images of these saints to your home or your prayer space! (Simple Saintsis a great resource, the image above is an example of her work!)
